With gratitude….

I want to give a giant thank you to my friend, neighbor and hero to Bassett hounds…..Jo and her husband Dave
Jo and Dave are foster parents with the Bassett Hound Rescue Orange County. Jo looks at applications, home inspections, picks up released dogs and fosters others that find their forever home.

But her and Dave’s super hero ability is being a dogs final foster family to the older and sick dogs. It’s difficult to make the decision to show our animals the ultimate show of love. This is what Jo does. During their time with her they get full medical attention, daily walks and lots of love.

I have learned so much about Bassett Hounds and fallen in love with some. Some of the dogs like Lovie you have met through Rudy’s blog. She crossed the rainbow a few months ago. Currently, I’ll add photos later, is Sam. It is amazing how Sam and Rudy build their bond. Lots of play tug-o-war, running around and play. Sam is 11 and has cancer. He is currently very playful, energetic and if you massage his ears he will be yours forever.

When I was a pet sitter I wasn’t in the inner circle of a rescue. I would rescue a dog from their situation or running on the street and contact the appropriate rescue. The volunteers who makeup a rescue are amazing, strong and selfless. Yes, selfless putting this unknown dog First. No vacations, going out with friends, giving up their lives for the lives of the dog, cat, or whatever they rescue.

At this time we are giving our frontline responders our gratitude. My daughter-in-law is one of them and I can’t say enough about how great she is. On that same level, our frontline responders are our rescues, shelters, vets etc that are taking care of our four legged fur babies.

With gratitude from pet parents and the all to many animals you help.

Why do dogs eat ….

I got lost reading these. I had a general idea why they ate poop and grass. 7 dogs later I never had a dog eat dirt. Enjoy I copied the link to our friends at PetMD. Enjoy

A new friend

Our neighbor got a Labrador puppy. She is old enough now to play. And play they did. Polly, in the beginning was unsure of other animals or people. She is from a repetitive breeder but was the runt.

At first she was cautious but Rudy was so good with her and now they are best friends.

Lock down

If you have been following you know that my neighbor and good friend Jo works with the Orange County Bassett Hound rescue. She often has dogs that cannot be adopted due to illness. She has her one, Albert that has been with her for years but her newest is Sam. Sam has terminal cancer but in its earlier stages. Well Rudy and Sam take every opportunity to play. With us being in self quarantine the boys play inside. (How cute is this. Jo lives at the end of our culture-de-sac. If any of her dogs got the chance, they will come to my house and let out a big bellow saying …let me in).

Okay back to the boys. This is them playing during our quarantine.

Cold..,but warmed up with a run.

Brrrr. It was chilly with the with the wind but Rudy, his Dad Angel and I braved the elements ….,quarantine and chilly breeze, signs reminding us to be 6 ft apart. I’m so glad it doesn’t effect our fur babies. His friend is a pug named Bunny. He and Rudy tear it I!!

Remember to be safe. The more we do what we need to the faster we can move past this.

Wednesday

With our world upside down Rudy and I send you virtual hugs. Please keep safe. It’s hard not to be going out but our Fur Babies are there to spend time with us. ~Tricia and Rudy 🐾

Another park day

Rudy spent some time with his friends today. It was a beautiful day a couple of the dog parents brought their fur kids to the park. We are on lock down and practicing safe distance so the parents are spread out while our fur babes play happily. Enjoy the short video of my rocket dog.
